Description Recovered black leather wallet belonging to David Wiswall. The wallet is severely damaged, warped from exposure to the elements and covered in dust. Some of the contents of the wallet are compacted together.
Historical Notes Queens native David Wiswall lived in Massapequa on Long Island with his wife, Patricia. With their two children grown, David had more time to bowl in his league and to go out to dinner with his wife and friends. The couple also enjoyed golfing together. On September 11, David, a senior vice president at Aon Corporation, was at work on the South Tower’s 105th floor. He was 54 years old.
Curator's Comment On September 11, after a plane struck the North Tower, Aon Corporation Senior Vice President David Wiswall left a phone message for his wife, informing her that he was planning to leave his 105th-floor office in the South Tower. Several coworkers who survived recall him ushering people to the stairwell and holding the door to aid their descent. Months after the attacks, David’s wallet and keys were found at Ground Zero and returned to his wife. HIDE
