Historical Notes Brooklyn-born William Wren lived in Lynbrook on Long Island with his wife, Patricia. They had raised two sons. William liked to visit art museums and watch televised art history lectures. After retiring from FDNY Ladder Company 166, he became a resident manager of fire safety at the World Trade Center. On September 11, William aided in the evacuation of the towers. He was 61 years old.
