Historical Notes Native New Yorker Robert Jordan lived in East Williston, Long Island, with his wife, Elizabeth. He rowed crew in college and had surfed since his teen years, when he spent summers in Hawaii. As an adult, he took up golf. On September 11, Robert, a partner and bond trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, was at his office on the North Tower’s 104th floor. He was 34 years old.
