Historical Notes
New Jersey native Joao Aguiar was born in Red Bank and lived in Hoboken. His passions included sailing catamarans and riding horses. His girlfriend, Lisa, owned a horse farm, and Joao planned to move in with her in 2001. An investment banker at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, Joao worked on the South Tower’s 88th floor. On September 11, he was seen on the 76th floor attempting to evacuate. Joao was 30 years old.
