New York–born Adam Ruhalter lived in Plainview, Long Island, with his wife, Fern, and their two school-age children. He played the drums and racquetball. A Star Trek science fiction fan, Adam was thrilled when a friend writing a Star Trek novel named a character after him. On September 11, Adam was on the North Tower’s 101st floor at Cantor Fitzgerald, where he was a controller. He was 41 years old.
