Handmade poster created by Freddy Schuman for game 3 of the 2001 World Series. The poster has a yellow and green border and handwritten text: "FREDDY 'SEZ' | WE GOT TO WIN | 3 GAMES, IN N.Y.C. | YOU CAN YANKEES!" In the top right corner is handwritten in smaller text: "This is a Genuine and Original Freddy Sez Poster," signed by Freddy "Sez." On the back is handwritten: "Oct. 30, 01 | World Series game 3 | Clemens wins 2-1 | Posada homer | Spencer diving catch | Brosias hit drives in go ahead | Mariano 6 shutout strikes | Pres. Bush ceremonial pitch."
In late October 2001, all eyes turned to the World Series. With the New York Yankees playing the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9/11 would shadow the series, particularly for games 3, 4, and 5 at Yankee Stadium, just miles from Ground Zero.
For more than two decades, Freddy Schuman enjoyed celebrity among New York Yankees fans as Freddy Sez. He was known for his handwritten signs and for banging on a pan with a spoon at home games in the Bronx. He attended the 2001 World Series games at Yankee Stadium with this unique poster. As the guest of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Schuman even traveled to Arizona for game 7, the last game of the series.
