Historical Notes Manhattan native James McAlary lived with his wife, Jeanne, and their three children in Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey. He coached his children’s sports teams and also served on the local school board. James worked on the New York Mercantile Exchange as a commodities trader for Carr Futures. On September 11, he was at a meeting at Carr’s offices on the North Tower’s 92nd floor. James was 42 years old.
