DescriptionQuilt panel composed of three individual handmade quilts from the project An American Quilt.
The quilt on the top left was created in memory of
David Garcia. The quilt is divided into three parts. At the left is a photo transfer with painted text: "David Garcia | WTC | N. Tower." The center has an image of boats and skis with text: "He enjoyed boating and skiing with his family. Deb, Davin, and Dylan." At the bottom are four hearts with the initials "DG" inside. The right side of the quilt has another photo transfer with appliquéd balloons and text: "Born May 11, 1961 | Love you. . .Mom, Dad, and Rich."
The bottom quilt was created in memory of
Louis S. Inghilterra. Sewn on the quilt are one T-shit and one dress shirt with a tie. More than a dozen photo transfers are sewn on top of the shirts. "Louis S. Inghilterra" is at the top.
The third quilt is in memory of
Shevonne Olicia Mentis. It has two photo transfers in the center and is covered in handwritten notes. A ribbon detail creates the border and large text at the top reads: "God Bless America in memory of my beloved daughter Shevonne Olicia Mentis." In the lower left corner are a small American flag and a small Guyana flag.
