Description Handwritten letter by Steven Morello, Jr., to the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund regarding his father, Steven P. Morello. The letter is about how the loss of his father has impacted his life and future and that of his own son.
Historical Notes Native New Yorker Steven Morello lived with his wife, Eileen, in Bayonne, New Jersey. They had raised three children. Steven’s pastimes included doing crossword puzzles, playing the lottery, and learning guitar to serenade Eileen with ballads. On September 11, Steven, an office manager for Marsh & McLennan, was working on the North Tower’s 93rd floor. He was 52 years old.
Curator's Comment The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund provided financial compensation to 9/11 victims’ relatives and injured survivors. Family members were given the opportunity to write to and meet with the Special Master, Kenneth Feinberg, who administered the Fund. Ninety-seven percent of victims’ families participated in the Fund, thereby waiving their right to pursue lawsuits against the airlines. HIDE
