Historical Notes Born in Tokyo, Japan, Soichi Numata lived in Irvington, New York, with his wife, Noriko, and their daughter. He enjoyed playing golf and attending ballet and opera performances with his family. A New York Yankees fan, he also rooted for Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki. A senior vice president at Fuji Bank, on September 11, Soichi was at work on the South Tower’s 82nd floor. He was 45 years old.
