Historical Notes Born in Valley Stream, Long Island, Amy Sweeney lived in Acton, Massachusetts, with her husband, Michael, and their two young children. She enjoyed skiing in Colorado and relaxing on the beach in Cape Cod. To have weekdays at home, Amy usually worked weekends as an American Airlines flight attendant. On September 11, she took an extra shift after a colleague had fallen ill. Amy was 35 years old.
