Historical Notes
Teaneck, New Jersey, native Kenneth Tietjen lived in Matawan. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes with the son of his fiancée, Karen. Each year at Christmas, when Kenneth’s family purchased gifts for a needy family, Kenneth supplied a bicycle. He worked as a PAPD officer for nine years. On September 11, Officer Tietjen responded to the towers from the 33rd Street PATH station. He was 31 years old.
