Description Silk scarf in olive, white, and gold with an abstract chain design belonging to Eileen Mary Rice.
Historical Notes Eileen Rice lived in New York City. She had raised two children. Eileen was committed to antipoverty and animal rights causes and was active in her Catholic parish. She also enjoyed reading and entertaining. An executive assistant at Marsh & McLennan, Eileen was at work on the 99th floor of the North Tower on September 11. She was 57 years old.
Curator's Comment Eileen Rice’s family remembered that she “always dressed in the latest fashions” and made scarves a signature part of her office wardrobe. Her brother described her presentation as “meticulous.” Both he and her daughter, Lesli, recalled that she devoted the same attention to her work. Lesli recounted how Eileen had taken leave from the workforce before computers were commonplace, only to return to an office where her coworkers were using them. She came to work early to learn the new technology, continuing to excel at the job she enjoyed. HIDE
